The first thing you’ll notice is our Swedish cultural heritage -
the old mill and the frame saw next to the waterfall.
The River Surtan winds its way through the landscape.
Within reach lie Landvetter Airport, Gothenburg, Borås, Varberg and Kungsbacka.
This is where you’ll find Kvarnens Guest House and Conference Centre, which was once the old village smithy. Stay and conference in these lovely premises, sympathetically maintained by the mill-owning family.
You can choose to have short meetings, day conferences or a longer conference with overnight stay. Guests who conference at Kvarnens Nordic Swan Eco labelled guest house appreciate this cosy conference venue’s proximity to nature, combined with a very personal touch and a thorough understanding of quality.
We offer our conference guests complete seclusion.
The babble of the waterfall and the River Surtan flowing past provide a gentle background noise. Kvarnen is a calm oasis with all the right conditions for creative meetings, and a unique ambience perfect for deliberations.
Living cultural history
When you come here today you’ll reside in historic buildings belonging to the mill-owning family. Staying in the old smithy, you can enjoy the view, the way of life, and the feeling that time has stood still in this little linear village. Walk our lovely hiking trail, visit one of Hyssna’s two nature reserves or join a guided tour to learn more about the mill, and the history of the master sawyer.
On your return you can test our wood fired sauna or the hot bubble pool. If there’s a group of you we can fire up our hot tub, and there are many other enjoyable activities on offer.
When it’s time for dinner our kitchen’s speciality is “A taste of the region on a plate”, which changes with the seasons, and uses locally produced, organic ingredients from forest and field, lake and sea.
We are members of A Taste of West Sweden (Smaka på Västsverige) Enjoy great food and a lovely breakfast right next to the cascading waterfall.
Welcome to this cultural gem
Our conference rooms are flexible spaces, and come in a variety of sizes.
The buildings are right next to the river Surtan, flowing past. You often see white throated dippers and grey wagtails feeding there.
The view is equally beautiful, in winter or in summer.
